Baruch split a doubleheader against Cazenovia in a conference doubleheader played Saturday afternoon in upstate New York.
They won the first game, 8-3, behind another complete game effort from pitcher Tristan Cetto. He scattered nine hits and walked only two in seven innings of action.
Adam Hoyle batted 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored, while Alberto Nieves had three hits and three runs scored.
Paul Alfano had a big two-run single in the first inning for Baruch (5-6, 4-2 CUNYAC).
The win was the fifth for the Bearcats, tying their entire 2004 win total. They won only one game during the 2003 season. They have more than 15 games left with the schedule this season.
In the nightcap, Todd DaCunha batted 3-for-5 with a single, double, and one RBI to give Cazenovia (8-9, 2-2 CUNYAC) the victory.
Wayde Anderson had a single, double, and one RBI for the Bearcats. Thomas Russo singled home a run and Arby Gega squeezed home another run.
Baruch will return to action on Sunday afternoon with a conference doubleheader at Keuka. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
